We’ve Been Helping People Wake Up Pain Free for One Year!

A year ago this week we started a company with the goal of helping people find mattresses designed to overcome issues they may be having with sleep. To build a company built on assisting customers to overcome problems, rather than a company solely based on selling the cheapest white rectangle they could find. I am very proud of the team we have built and the two stores we have so far. Here’s a little background on this past year and our next year.
The first issue we really concentrated our research on was Morning Back Pain. We had to find mattresses that addressed posture and support. To the average person, this could be any brand any mattress. The issue here was finding the right manufacturer that would not gouge our customer base on pricing. You see the problem in this business is that many brands advertise the heck out of their name and have built quite a brand for themselves. The truth is that over half of their retail costs are attributed to their advertising, so you aren’t buying some expensive trademarked material, you are paying for their ads. Knowing this, we had to seek out a reputable company with the builds we needed to make sure we could say “You will wake up pain-free.” We were fortunate to have teamed up with King Koil, a company in partnership with the International Chiropractor Association. This to us was the most significant selling point. If we can prove that a mattress is specifically designed for posture support, then we have the mattresses that we want to sell.
Our Pain Free sleeping goal was a main concentration for our entire first year. We found other brands that were designed for pain elimination as well, Technogel being the brand with the most medically backed history and testimony to it. Technogel, if you haven’t experienced it yet, is a gel topped mattress. It is designed to eliminate pressure points, keep cooler, and help support the person laying on it. Finding this brand was a great addition to our principle reason for starting our business.
You would think that finding a niche like pain-free sleep would be good enough and that we could continue with that niche since we have been so successful with it, but growth doesn’t happen by resting on your past victories. Recently Sleep Well has announced it’s Cool Sleep Certified Mattress certification. This process came about because many of our customers, particularly in our Carlsbad NM store, were concerned about the heat they experienced while trying to sleep. So many people have lost valuable sleep due to overheating in the middle of the night. So many customers had bought supposed “cooling” mattresses. We thought at first that it was such a simple point to overcome that we could just do it without any issues, boy were we wrong. It turns out that many of the supposed “cooling” mattresses we researched were all propaganda that would not stand up to real situations. So we did what we do, we researched.
We found Southerland, a company based out of Tennessee with a HUGE line-up of mattress models. What we saw with them was the use of Omni-phase materials and latex in several of their better mattresses. This is a “real” cool sleep build. Omni-phase is a coating that pushes heat downward and away, and latex is a material that dispels heat and will not hold it. Put that together with great airflow in mattress design, and you’ve got a winner in the Cool Sleep category.
Our second year will continue to be about our customers and their needs. We know that there are many needs out there that need to be addressed and we are more than ready to find ways to help you, our customers, overcome them. Our newest location in Carlsbad New Mexico is a full-fledged furniture store. Furniture is an entirely new field for us. We are approaching this in the same way we did with the sleep business, “What can we do to help our customers through this need?”. We have found several wonderfully well-built brands that carry precisely what our customers need, not only that but they are so competitively priced that we can offer an almost unlimited selection affordable to everyone. In the next year, we will grow, it’s our goal. We will find better ways to make our customer’s experience unmatched. We will listen to your needs and continue to find ways to help.
As you can probably tell by now, we aren’t about being the cheapest. We aren’t about fake pricing; you know the 50% off sale tactic offered by many competitors. We are about really knowing our product, really helping our customer, and really making things right.
